Job Title: Research Assistant – Quantum Computing

Location: Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science & Technology: VISTEC (onsite)

Duration: 1 Year Full-time Contract, starting August 2025 (or as soon as possible after)

About the Position:

We are looking for a Research Assistant to design new quantum methods and algorithms and develop application case studies. The main focus of research will be quantum computing for sustainable energy transition, including power systems management and renewable energy integration. The work may also include developing quantum applications in other research areas of interest to VISTEC.

Competitive salary dependent on qualifications and experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Designing methods and techniques for new or improved quantum algorithms for optimization, simulation, machine learning and similar problems.
• Developing case studies and prototype quantum applications to demonstrate the use of such algorithms in areas such as sustainable energy transition.
• Evaluating the performance of quantum algorithms and applications on both quantum simulators and real quantum computers.
• Writing reports and papers, and presenting research on quantum computing at meetings, workshops and conferences.
• Providing research advice in quantum computing, both theoretical and practical, to students and researchers.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, electrical or electronics engineering, or related subject.
• Some experience or familiarity with quantum computing is highly desirable, gained either as part of the degree, or through external or online courses, internships, etc.
• Good written and verbal English skills and ability to communicate effectively.
