Ability of specific and smart detection has a broad impact on quality of life and can save tremendous resources otherwise spent in non-specific measurement. Our research team at VISTEC has enzymes that can bind to specific molecules and generate detectable signals in the forms of light or electricity.
We have developed proprietary technology based on an enzyme bacterial luciferase isolated in Thailand. This can be used as a gene reporter for specific gene detection. We are developing genetic systems that can be used as in vivo cell monitoring tools. This technology can track diseases inside experimental animals in real time and significantly reduce cost in drug discovery process.
We have enzymes that can react with pesticides and toxic chemicals and generate light signals. The technology is currently being developed as detection tools for environmental applications. Some of our enzymes can also bind to sugar and phenolic compounds and generate electricity. These reactions can be used as detection tools in food and environment applications.
